Outlaw

David John
(Wild Horse Crossing)

He’s a wild and free Spanish Mustang
Chestnut brown with a black shaggy mane
And I knew the first time I’d seen him
This outlaw will never be tamed

He’ll come every morning to the meadow
With his broodmare close by his side
All beaten and scarred from his battles
In his world only the strong survive

He’s an outlaw and no fence will hold him
There’s no gate tall enough to keep him in
No Buckaroo alive could ever tame him
You might just as well try and tame the wind

He never felt the touch of a human
He’s too clever for the Mustanger’s noose
But he don’t need your saddle and bridle
He’s too wild for the likes of me and you

He’s an outlaw and no fence will hold him
There’s no gate tall enough to keep him in
No Buckaroo alive could ever tame him
You might just as well try and tame the wind

His spirit wasn’t meant to be broken
God intended him to be free
Too noble to be a beast of burden
He belongs to the earth so let him be

He’s an outlaw and no fence will hold him
There’s no gate tall enough to keep him in
No Buckaroo alive could ever tame him
You might just as well try and tame the wind
